Recently I have become more aware of what’s going on in my life and the life that consumes other people. I have stepped back and reevaluated what I think is necessary and important in this world. There are some things that have to be experienced rather than learned. That is why I am excited to dive right into this cultural immersion project. I will get more of an understanding of what is around me and have the ability to better cope with my surroundings.
I have been brought up to consider other people’s well-being and help where I can. From grade school and into high school my years were overflowed by the amazing experience that I had with a youth volunteer service called H2O, or Help To Others. It was from my mom and my involvement with this organization where I learned how rewarding and satisfying it is lending any form of support. I not only learned diligence and hard work, but I also learned how good it felt to give of yourself fully.
I feel compelled at this part in my life that there is more time to explore and experience the full meaning of being selfless. The time to act is now before I get submerged in a world that I have not created for myself, but rather given to me. I have to make the choices I want to succeed and be fully involved in my society. Today I believe that I can enhance what I already have, can find what really matters and continue into a better successful future.
There is no limit to what I can do. I will be putting myself out there for others and learning from everything that crosses my path. There is so much out in the world and I am so little; but the change I can make in life is huge. I feel refreshed that I can control so much of what happens and it is exciting to see how productive I can be. This journey is just the beginning of the entire trip that is called life.
