Katie, Chris and I drove past a fellow human being [Ted] just days after making the conscious decision to start planning our journey. We found him walking down Lake Road in Bay Village with a sign on his back. We stopped and talked to him for a little while and got to learn about his reasons for walking across America. It was such a good feeling seeing how someone else cares so much about our community and life in general. He inspired us to keep thinking and improving what we are doing for the satisfaction of life.

This project is so kick-ass. I like that you’ve hit on compassion as the thing that’s going to change/save/sustain the world. I keep telling people who ask my opinion what the country needs — “The greedy people to be more fair.” “Us to be patient and continue to be kind.” “EVeryone to chill.” On the last one, I am reminded of a scene from a BAtman show. Batman, robin and batgirl are tied in the “Bohemian, Vipor Scorpion” rope tie. If anyone moves a muscle, they will all be strangled. BAtman says, “Everyone, just relax.” So everyone chills. No fear. Abhaya. He wiggles his left ear, and the whole rope tie comes undone. Okay, that was a sub-non sequitur. But we can’t go around screaming fire and having everyone trample each other.
